1、 Lowering blood pressure
Frequent sauna can help avoid developing high blood pressure. Hypertension is an important risk factor for heart disease. Researchers from the University of East Finland have found that compared to peers who only take a sauna once a week, men who take a sauna at least four times a week have almost halved their risk of developing heart disease.
The study, published in the American Journal of Hypertension, selected 1621 middle-aged Finnish men who were not diagnosed with hypertension at the beginning of the study. During an average follow-up period of 22 years, men who took saunas 4-7 times a week had a 46% reduced risk of developing hypertension, while men who took saunas 2-3 times a week had a 24% reduced risk of developing hypertension.
2、 Prevention of dementia
A study published in the Journal of Elderly and Aging showed that the more frequently volunteers take saunas, the lower their risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. Participants were divided into three groups. The first group consisted of people who took saunas 4-7 times a week, the second group consisted of people who took saunas 2-3 times a week, and the third group consisted of people who only took saunas once a week.
Researchers found that compared to those who only took a sauna once a week, the group who took the sauna the most frequently had a 66% lower risk of developing any form of Alzheimer's disease and a 65% lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
